I had an experience last week that was just too weird not to write about. I received some hate mail about a column I wrote 20 years ago. Equally as weird, it was from a good friend of mine and written years before we met.

You could also blame the general self-righteousness of college students; their MO is usually to criticize and pick things apart.

Yeah, I told him that, but he said he couldn't accept that excuse for himself because he'd already graduated by that point.

What furor? What do you reactions do you remember? As I said, I never saw any letters about it. I'm just curious.
