Seriously? Fuck you, Blender. Fuck. You.

Oct 20, 2006 03:10

Just FYI, I will never like Blender because they are anti-Green Day and it really doesn't get any shallower than that for me people. But wow, I am so not allowed to read that magazine, not even in the "know your enemy" type way because RAWR. God, I hate music journalism. Seriously, does every line have to come off with some edgy, biting remark ( Read more... )

Mmm, I pretty much agree wholeheartedly with this post. I've kind of taken a step back from the Green Day fandom recently. Actually, I'm currently downloading The Black Parade out of curiosity; I'm not a huge fan of MCR but concept albums intrigue me, and I want to see how they do it. I might find it interesting to compare it to American Idiot (or any other concept album, for that matter), but not in the sense of what's better, just because I'm sure the two bands will approach making a concept album very differently. I don't really care to argue about what's better; it's all so subjective anyway.

Also, I despise it when people refer to Gerard Way as Gee. Ugh.

*nods* Exactly. It's all very different. I just lose the taste for all the comparison and fandomish /crap/ that sometimes gets wrapped up in music. I mean, GOD, it's MUSIC! Music, which is so freaking amazing we really don't even have to say anything to have that connection and witness something amazing, y'know? *rubs eyes* Fuck. I need to go to bed.

Everything you just said makes me glad I don't really participate that much in, well, any fandom, really. I don't even get the comparison between Green Day and My Chemical Romance. They don't even play the same type of music, do they? (Not sure since I only heard three My Chemical Romance songs ever.) Why can't people just like music for music's sake?

I don't even get the comparison between Green Day and My Chemical Romance. No. Me neither. And that's not even a fandom thing, that's a press/media coverage thing. It's driving me batshit crazy. I'm just exhausted by it all.

Honestly, I would really recommend that you listen to MCR, they're really good and when I saw them live they were even better. (They've been on tour with Green Day AND Alkaline Trio and I have personally seen Mike Dirnt accosts Gerard with a light saber and Matt Skiba feel him up. Rock and roll is a beautiful, beautiful place.)

I think MCR is one of those bands that I know I should listen to since I'll probably like their songs and everything...but I just never got around to it and I don't even know why. One day, I'm going to have to download The Black Parade and give it a good listen.

Now, that's a concert to die for. XD

P.P.S. Mikey's bass on TBP? Is amazing for a kid who started playing bass a few years ago to be in his brother's band. He's really gotten much much better between the second and third albums.

Just sayin'. He's not a guitar god like Ray but he hasn't been playing since he could walk either.

Wow. I need to step away from the computer before I become wanky. Cause I'm sure at some point I'm going to step over some line if I haven't already. *cringes*

*pets* Hey, it's okay. We no wank here. I've kind of shot off at the mouth in this post and honestly, it's much more for the Green Day fans who are coming to terms with I don't know, the media paying more attention to other bands. *smiles*.

But when you spend your formative years immersed in comic books and horror movies and a band like MCR comes out and says "it's okay to be an utter dork, it's okay to like all those things you like" you're gonna identify with them just a little bit. I was the quiet smart girl in high school. I don't like people, I'm antisocial as hell and it's nice to be told that that's okay.

That's a good point, one that I didn't really think about. I think that a lot of this is very speculative (what I was writing). I mean, for me MCR will never be as influential a band as they are to you. *dies* You know, I should have probably called you before I decided to delve into my own little Green Day/MCR fest last night. Honestly, I think they're a really great band and I really love them but whereas you found ( ... )

heh. See, the darkness is something I also find comforting because I've been dealing with depression, at times severe depression, for almost a decade. And there comes a point where you stop dealing with it and start living with it because it's just not going to go away. You can balance and everything but it's always there, skirting around the back of your head and some days I just wrap myself in it like a big-ass blanket because it's been there for so long that it's comfortable. That's probably not a good thing but, while I ponder death, I'm not going to, like, off myself or anything. Because that would be stupid. But I think about it more than a healthy, sane person should.

So I don't worry about Gerard. But if you find the post I'd be interested in reading it. :)

Dude, I have the leak downloaded to my computer and it's so hard not to just listen to the whole thing now and wallow in the newness but I know that if I don't, if I save it for Tuesday, if I can last that long then my self-control will have been worth it. But it ( ... )

You took the words out of my mouth, but made them more organized and well, nicer than I eveer could have. Music is music, and while MCR might look up to Green Day, they come from two different worlds and two different genres, and will never be the same.

(But, for the sake of whatever, American Idiot became the story of my life, and Green Day's music, and background, and ability as a band has inspired me to a point that I don't think I've ever been at musically and socially before. MCR has yet to do that. Maybe it's because Green Day was there when music was something else, but I don't know anymore.)

HELLO, that is right what I was talking about! And that doesn't necessarily mean that MCR can't be capable of that for other people, it's just that I will never ben inspired by them like I am Green Day. (And really, everyone in the GD fandom should probably take a step back, realize that GD has influenced a lot of bands that are nothing like them. They're OLD ( ... )
