Younger Son (who recently celebrated his 14th birthday), is on the junior high Quiz Bowl team. Last year the team placed second at state and they're state-bound again this year.

This alone us enough to make a mother's heart swell with pride in her progeny.

What a wonderful opportunity!

It is! Everyone is sooo excited about it. Lots of fundraising to be done now. Entry fee for the team is $600. Then there's hotel rooms for five kids plus one teacher for at least two nights, gas money for the drive (11 hours each way) plus meals. That's not counting any sort of teen-friendly entertainment.

Of course I'll also have to save up some dough because there's no way Older Son and I are gonna get left behind! I haven't been to New Orleans since the Christmas before Katrina hit and Older Son has been wanting to go there for about a year now.
