what happened to NaNo

For those who have noticed that I was all enthused about NaNo and then promptly shut up about it, here's what happened. First, I had a torchworking class that required me to completely hork my sleep/wake cycle, from getting up at 5-6pm to getting up at 8am. This does really awful things to my body, so I was completely out of it for the two days ( Read more... )

I find it amazing that so many people I know discover other things they'd rather pursue when November comes around. This year it seems to be crafts that involve beads and jewelery with my friends. Not everyone can be a writer, even if they've got the talent, but I think all the creativity in the air seems to prompt everyone to be creative.

I'm really glad that's working for you. It sounds so cool! Good luck finding just the right home for your glass studio. It sounds like you'll be able to make back your investment rather easily, when you do get your equipment. ^_^

~many hugs~

Ooh, that sounds like fun! I've always been impressed by people who can make really cool things out of raw materials. I'd love to see pictures when you figure that out.

I wouldn't worry about Nano too much if I were you. If it really is something you really want to write, it doesn't have to be done in November. Take your time, and enjoy it, rather than trying to kill yourself to win a silly contest that really isn't much of a contest. Life is full of priorities, and as Tam mentioned, many of us just found we had other things we wanted to devote our attention to this month. I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

I realized I could either try to push it without a coherent plot and with my mind and body in serious upheaval, or I could just accept that there would be, yet again, no win this year. I like this plot. I've written about 2,000 words so far, which is 2,000 words more than I've written in over a year. I'd like to sit down and even out the kinks and do the outlining and characterization prep work that I think this story deserves. This isn't a crack plot, this is one I'm pretty serious about being committed to writing-- and my husband's really keen on it too, which is somewhat unusual for him. So yes, I'm being a "quitter" again, at least as far as the competition goes. But you will see the story, if you're interested in reading it, actually happen, so that's for the good. You are in no way being a quitter! It sounds like you have a great story on your hands that deserves all the time and committment you can devote to it, and when you combine that with the physical and emotional issues you've been wrestling with, your NaNo story probably ( ... )
