To the Doctor Who fans on my flist: so, um, what exactly is awesome about "Utopia"? I keep seeing the squeeful posts, but I haven't seen it, 'cause I haven't seen anything after "Doomsday". (To be honest, I'm dreadfully behind in all of my fandoms. I haven't even seen the season finale of Heroes yet ( Read more... )

Jack! Captain Jack's back on the TARDIS. Mentioning Rose. And apparently slashy with the doctor. Hence collective fangirl squee.

I went over most of what made it so awesome in my post from last night. The continuity, the history, the connections to things that happened over 30 years ago in Who canon was what rocked my socks :D Plus, Captain Jack, woo!

Uh...John Barrowman is hot. Does that count? *g*

Yeah, so, Jack's back, mentions of "good ol' Rose" and an old foe resurfaces. And that totally sounded like a movie trailer, but whatever. xD

It pretty much rocks.

I, also, haven't seen the finale of Heroes yet. *is sad*

Well, like everyone's said, Jack's back. Personally, though, that's not what really made me go "squee!" One of the best villains in the entire history of the show, one who's been around since the 70s, is back. And who's playing him makes it so much more than awesome.

Jack and the Doctor have a really nice talk. It's sweet, heartbreaking and awesome!.

Plus, there's some really classic Who in there and it's part of three story arch - which looks like it's going to be FANTASTIC.
And no, I won't give that away because you kind of need the impact. More so if you have knowledge of classic Who.

John Simm (of Life on Mars fame, you really need to watch that show) shows up.

And so many episodes of this season tie into the arch... it's just beautiful. I don't think you actually need to have watched the rest of the season to understand this episode (or the next two), but it's so nice to see something set up in advance and to be tipped off as to what exactly is going to happen.

But mainly? JACK IS BACK!
