Can someone please explain to me what the fuck just happened in Lost

I still don't even know exactly, but like all I know is that they all died at some point and the flash sideways was their after life/way of reconnecting with each other so they can all be together again.

I'll try finding the discussion post at lost tv. A bunch of people tried explaining it.
