"And Exchange it One Day for a Crown..."

Ash Wednesday service! It was really nice, although we had a visiting priest and she gave a very, very condescending sermon about how it is petty and trivial to give up things like chocolate or cola for Lent. Since I've given up both of those, I lol'd quietly to myself in my pew. Then she said that she had made a significant change to her ( Read more... )

old people are awesome, religion, misc. dorkitude, why do boys suck?, crazy people are everywhere!, rampant stupidity of any kind

And then you'll take over the world, right? I think I'd like to live in a world run by an old lady who wields her power of old lady-ness to annoy annoying people.

Monty Python's Old Lady Gangs are, for reals, something I would do.

I gave up all sweet things and cola for the second year running; it's only first first day and I already hate myself. Bleh.

No, he was--oh man. Not sexually creepy, creepy in a "let me tell you about my dead twin brother with whom I have a mental connexion and in whose honour I always carry a live carnation and a dead one--the dead one symbolises him and the live one symbolises me. Also, don't be freaked out if my eye change colour, that's just my twin coming through. Also, do you believe in ghosts?" kind of way. I honestly felt bad because I was having a really hard time not laughing.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

(That's all I got.)

Also, you know, I am pretty sure Lent is not a time for judging & acting all superior.

I KNOW IT WAS SPECIAL. LIKE REALLY SPECIAL. And awkward.

Psshh, Lent is all about judging.

Precisely, that's why I'm going to frown more. Honestly, I'm getting to the point where I just find religious condescension hilarious when it's directed at me (less so when it's directed at other people).

I don't give up just chocolate, either; it's all sweets. Which I've done for-ever because it was how my mother taught me to do Lent when I was a little kid, and so it's my standard Lent observance. Now that I'm old enough to think about it for myself, I add on my own personal observances as well--hence the cola etc.

I decided to give up caffine for the second year in a row...and was so fried by the time I got to my 7pm rehearsal that I ordered a coffee and forgot to make in decaf. *fail* So I'm going to go until the day after Easter Sunday, so it's still the same amount of time, just shifted slightly.

And sadly I didn't make it to a service at my church because of my schedule, but I heard from Mom that it was nice. I'm sorry yours was so...presumptuous.

Oh, God, it's really tough. I don't mind the sweets as much, but I want a fucking Diet Coke so bad I could kill.

Apart from the sermon it was lovely! I mostly tune out the sermons anyway, since I don't like our priest very much.

LOL fonts. D: The worst was when I went to Paris and Comic Sans was everywhere, even in cathedrals.

OH GOD, I am at the Philly flower show right now and I called my sister to make fun of her because her school's exhibit was in all Papyrus, and I said "the only way it could be worse would be if there were a Comic Sans bit". Of course a few minutes after I hung up I found one.
