Turn 20 - Suzaku don't give a shit

Aug 24, 2008 17:16

This was another episode where the boys continue to take a dive off the deep end and have a match to see who can hurt himself the most. This is new and exciting to R2. =P

This week was filled with QUALITY yet again. Lelouch actually looked half-decent in most of this episode because his features were softer à la season one. However, Suzaku looked like a twelve year-old drew him. I mean...simply wow. And Ohgi looked like Noa Bright in certain scenes. Really now, Sunrise. This is embarrassing.

See title of post. I loved Suzaku and Nina's little exchange there. I'm actually beginning to feel real sympathy for Nina. I know--first Rolo and now Nina. What's the world coming to?!

First of all, snarky!C.C. is back! \o/ Now...Anya = Marianne (or something close to it). It is Turn 20. A bit late to (re)introduce(?) such an important character, but hey, it could be worse. I feel all sorts of terrible for Lelouch. The kid's lost the second half of his raison d'être (which is just about all that he's aware he has left), and he doesn't even know it yet. Kallen needs to get back on his side soon, and Charles should make Lelouch emperor just so that he'd get Gino under him.

So Lelouch finally geasses people to permanently come under his command. FINALLY. I'm not relieved for any plot purpose, but hopefully, this'll shut up those retards on /a/ who are all "Chode Gayass is so stupid. It has the worst writing ever! Ledouche should just geass everyone to do whatever he says. God, if I had a geass, I'd conquer Britannia in a day." OMG, there was reasoning behind it, after all! Fancy that! Did anyone else find the juxtaposition of the cutesy cat music with Suzaku showing no remorse for firing FLEIA a bit unsettling? I mean, the kid's not right in the head in many ways, and we get music that's associated with happy Ashford times. WTF? What else? Not a single usage of "ore", although he uses "jibun" a whole lot more than I ever remember him doing. Don't know jack shit about Japanese pronouns, so... Let's see...Suzaku's spent the past season trying to convince himself that he's not like Zero and trying to take actions to prove that to himself. And this episode, he realized that, shit, he is like Zero...and has thrown himself fully into what he believes to be full Zero-mode. Not surprisingly, Suzaku does not know the meaning of "happy medium". He fails to see himself as "sorta like Zero", and it's pretty much indicative of the black-and-white way he sees things. Hell, with all the actors responsible for the bad things that happened, he pretty much separates blame into "Zero's fault" and "my own fault". Prime pickings for Mr. Bad Touch Schneizel.

Swordzaku was nonsensical but was thoroughly appreciated fanservice. Why the hell did he bring a sword? Why not a gun? Where did he find that sword? Oh, and I had a huge shit-eating grin on my face when he attacked Charles in the name of Lelouch and Nunnally's despair. ♥

[gg]'s subs were pretty wonky this week. Anyone know what "This is my crucifixion!" is actually supposed to be? Sacrifice? Penance? Atonement? Achievement? Task? In any case, lol Darth Jesus.

How much do you want to bet that Suzaku falls into a secret underground cave that leads to the Sword of Akasha or something? Actually, he'll probably meet up with C.C. and Anya/Marianne.

I laughed so hard at the line of Sutherlands all lined up all fancy-like with their lances all pointed up for Lelouch to walk beneath. No one's watching you, Zero, but you gotta keep up appearances, right? XD

What else? Monica was cute. And it looks like it's gonna be a bitchin' party up in Kaminejima soon.

Um, might have more thoughts after I watch it more than once.

So, Geass is just absolutely zipping along right now, ain't it? Has the season felt like this to anyone else?

Bit of...interesting pacing there, Sunrise.
