Stranded
So, I have off work from June 24th through July 2nd and I want to GO SOMEWHERE. The problem is I can hardly afford a plane ticket anywhere I'd want to go (Portland, OR; Ireland; San Fran, etc.). Let's brainstorm! What would you do with a week off and $200?

Minna (my love) and I used to live in Portland, OR (the other is nice too). We went to Reed college and lived and worked there for two years afterwards. It's a really cool city--very affordable, friendly, lots of fun theatres, places to see shows, cozy bars, etc. Everyone there is twenty-five, works in a coffee shop and plays in a band. the entire population. some sort of magnetic force repells and attracts people depending on their 'stage in life'.
It's also incredibly beautiful. the mountains on the west coast are younger and were less eroded by glaciers than those out east, and the city is filled with huge rolling hills with mountains in the distance. the mountains also trap sea air which gives the whole valley mild, misty weather throughout most of the year. this means that in the summer when the drizzle breaks and the sun comes out the foliage explodes everywhere like the city is a giant greenhouse. I highly reccomend it.
