"The man just ordered someone killed - even if presumably the world's greatest enemy - and they want him to toast it?!"

Exactly. I thought the Big O was dignified. It was a "we did it, we're done with him as a person, let's move on". Tasteful, to the point and emphatic.

I have not heard the Manchurian Candidate conspiracy theory... and I'm glad I haven't. People need more things to do.

Not happy. Not sad.

I am beaming with pride that my country found and killed this man, after he excitedly killed close to 3000 people. (Mostly, innocent Americans. )

I am glad they treated his body with respect, and I am glad the whole thing it went down like it did. I am not reflecting on the death of a person (Not a person, sorry. A MONSTER.), rather I am reflecting on the determination of my country and the pride I have in it.

A task was set before our country and military and it was accomplished. That is good. The fact that we didn't lose any of our soldiers during the mission is good. Also, not many innocents were killed during the mission is good. However, the whole bit of people reacting like the Munchkins ("ding dong the witch is dead"), that gets to me. Yeah, he was a filthy bastard that I view as a serial killer, but we don't have to sing and dance because he was shot. That just further ingrains the idea of what the Al-Quaeda people already think of us and gives them more "reasons" to hate us.

I must admit, I was surprised they did a burial at sea for him. I knew they wouldn't bury him. That makes sense, but I would have thought he would have been incinerated. I don't know what the burial practices are of Islam. Heh... like I know ANY religious burial practices. I just wanna be thrown out on the side of the road. >:D

I didn't see any of the dancing and singing -because- he was dead.

I did see people waving their flags, and singing patriotic songs, and feeling proud to be Americans.

..and I just can't fault them for that.

There is an old saying, "Death,be not proud". It just goes to show you that for all our advanced society,we still are living like we just came out of the caves at times.

Most of my friends/family aren't. Thankfully. My Dad's reaction, "Really? Are they sure? Huh." Mine was simply, "Well, good". I find it horrible that some of his family were killed and/or witnessed it. Been there, did that.
