Oooh, this is neat. Nuclear bombs are freaky enough in and of themselves, but to someone who doesn't get to watch technology evolve at any kind of normal rate, it must be even more disturbing. Lots of good foreshadowing going on here. Nice work as always.

I love this idea of exploring Richard' reaction to the nuke and you did it so well. Isolated as he is, he can't even imagine a regular bomb, much less this horror. And that Jacob wanted it here... yeah. Ppoor Richard.
