Yeah, I watched the first act and couldn't stick with it. Maybe it's the bright colours and stage lighting; maybe it's the boxers; or maybe just the passage of time. Rocky Horror was so subversive when it first debuted, but this production felt oddly quaint and almost wholesome.
One review said something like "If you're putting on a version of Rocky Horror that can be shown on prime time network TV, you're not putting on Rocky Horror." :/
For me the boxers were just the embodiment of the odd...well... prudishness of the whole thing. In a movie about sexual and gender role transgression, let's make sure the kids don't see the outline of a guy's pee-pee!
We watched the original on Sunday night in preparation for this. I kept watching for/looking at the differences and it was...lacking. Although Tim Curry getting off a few notes of music at the end...*wipes a tear*
