AND NOW, PIE!!!

I baked a strawberry-rhubarb pie tonight. PIE FOR EVERYONE! (Seriously. This is a monster pie. If you’re in Phoenix, and you knock on my door, I will totally give you a piece of pie! Offer available while pie lasts, void after nine PM, some restrictions may apply.)

I think I just figured out how to end that Sunnydale High reunion story I was ( Read more... )

I'm so bummed! I'm in Vancouver this weekend! (Well, that doesn't bum me, but the pielessness does)

OMG my mother used to make strawberry rhubarb pie with the rhubarb that grew in our yard! It was the most delicious thing ever. Sadly I married someone whose aversion to rhubarb is so intense that he can't even stand the smell of it cooking, so I haven't had it in years. So enjoy it extra on my behalf, please!

Strawberry rhubarb is one of my favorite pies ever! My mom just boils up rhubarb and sugar and eats it by itself.

Doesn't everyone? I mean, usually I wind up with more rhubarb than I have strawberries or raspberries to go with it.

Have I mentioned that my second favorite of the Dry Soda flavors is Rhubarb?

I'm not fond of cooked fruit (or fruit-substitutes, since rhubarb is a vegetable) unless it's in a pie - if I'm gonna eat it straight, I usually prefer it raw. It's a thing...

Well, the offer is good while the pie lasts. *g* We didn't even cut it last night, since it didn't even come out of the oven till around eight!

My mouth is watering at the mere mention of strawberry-rhubarb pie. My sister always makes me one when she comes to visit. She'll be here in late July. I don't like to bake, unless it's something super easy like brownies or pumpkin pie.

I don't think fruit pie is any harder than pumpkin - you just whack up your fruit, add some sugar and some kind of thickener (cornstarch or tapioca or even flour) and dump it into the crust. I will admit that making crust is trickier, but if you use pre-made crust, you're pretty much home free!

Save me a piece? Or at least promise to make me a pie when I (finally, someday) come to visit?
