I've gotten far enough along with my dress that I'm working on getting the pleating right, which has been problematic. Lønborg had suggested that the pleats were drawn up with a single linen thread, such that the end result looked like this, end dimensions being about 2-3 mm deep, 3 mm wide, and at least 4.3 cm long ( Read more... )

How many layers of fabric are going on in your pleats, and do you know how many are in the original? If you turn under an extra layer or two (or pad it out with a strip of something else) it will make the pleats more structured and straighter with fewer gathering threads.

Only one layer in the original, but with 5 mm at the edge folded over and hemmed.
