Viking Age Needle Case Project

Having taken a class by Lady Blitha of Wolfhou on medieval needle cases, I decided that I wanted to make a more contemporary needle case, as the one I've been wearing for several years is technically Bronze Age, and I knew I could create something both shinier and higher-status. Really looks lovely. After you rolled it around the dowel, what did you do to keep the edges together?

I added a jump ring. It holds it together just fine and I didn't need to use our (broken) soldering iron.

It looks very good (although to my eyes it just begs for some incised decoration - can't remember the original and don't have the book here, so I may be totally historically incorrect here), and I'm sure they would be very appreciated presents/donations.

The chain is very pretty. Glad you found a use for the photo set.

The original I was using was plain, but there are several pretty, incised Saxon needle cases.
