Kids, are your eyes "red and watery" because of allergies? Maybe a cold? Grieving the death of a loved one? Oh no, it means you're a dirty, pot smokin' teen. SUSPENDED AND TO THE 'SPECIAL' SCHOOL FOR YOU!!!

You meant to type "speak", not "squeak".

On topic, what the honest fuck. Way to add insult to injury.

District spokeswoman Lesley Weaver said she could not discuss specifics about the case, citing federal privacy laws.

She did say, however, that the district has offered support and counseling to Robertson.

"We're very sorry for the family's loss and we want to provide whatever resources they need to get through this," Weaver said.

Oh, we can't talk about it! Except to mention all the good things we've been doing to make ourselves look better. Sure hope they offer extra counselling to cover that whole getting-fucked-over-by-authority-figures trauma.

Wow. Just WOW.

Not fucking okay. Damn RIGHT they issued an apology and took the suspension off the records. I don't think a single one of them would have kept their jobs for long if they hadn't.

Same thing happened to me. They made me bring in the obituary to get the absences excused and even though those were the only four days I missed the entire year they still said I had missed too many days to be exempt from my midterms even though I had straight A's (any student Jr or Sr year could exempt out of midterms and finals by having at least a B average and having missed less than two days of school). My one teacher actually told me I wasn't supposed to be there when I showed up for the test.

See, I can understand asking for an obit. (Although a simple google search can turn that up these days.) But why on earth wold you make it more difficult than it needs to be unless this kid has had 8 grandparents die in the last year. (Not that it can't happen. My one friend has 8 grandparents due to divorce/remarriage. Maybe I should up the number...)
