Abuser Who Threatened to Kill Ex-Wife Gets Released

Yes, this dude spent 15 years in jail (10 for the abuse, and a little less than 5 for sending the threatening letter from JAIL), but I can't help but feel rage about this, still. Also, sadness for this woman and the children she has with this man (he threatened them as well ( Read more... )

This is just... gah. No one who does that should be allowed out of jail after only 15 years (if at all). Does she even get any police protection or is she going to jave to hire her own? Can she afford to?

I wonder that as well. She might have to rely on herself for protection, which is sad.

Given that she can't afford to move, I doubt she could afford a private bodyguard or security. :(

There is a guy that I work with who served in Vietnam. He is pretty much fully disabled, but can't go on disability because of his financial situation. All his injuries are internal, due to Agent Orange... So he works two jobs, one at a hospital with me. Because he works at the hospital, he gets great medical benefits - which allows him to get treatment for his pain, and use prescription narcotics constantly to lessen it. The way he describes the constant pain reminds me of this lady, and it makes me rage so hard that it brings me tears.... she didn't serve in a war but has injuries just as bad. She gets no recognition for surviving death like war hero's do, or benefit status (veteran status is what I am referencing) to get help financially for her injuries ( ... )

It truly does follow you. My mother was in several abusive relationships (not with my father though, however my stepfather was one of them), and sometimes that abuse extended to me as well. The last time one of them physically assaulted me was over twenty years ago (I dealt with them emotionally assaulting us for longer, however), and I can still see how it affected me.

Also, don't apologize for this post because the more we talk about something, the more others understand it.

OMG. Having to live with the fear...I can't.... there's got to be a way made to deal with people like that. It's abuse, the constant fear of of them stalking you... they get off the power. No one should have to go day by day in fear like that. Our current system makes the victim helpless.

Price's attorney, Milton Shoaf of Salisbury, said Thompson had no reason to fear Price.

"He will not go around her. Period," he said. "He has no interest."

Oh, so that letter that started out "Dear slut" and said he was going to kill her and her two daughters was what, exactly? A sick joke?

My god, she is incredibly brave. I'm not sure I could go through that and turn it into something positive by helping others all the while suffering permanent physical and emotional damage.

I think "GRRR SMASH!" sums up my feelings.

I send threatening letters to people as jokes all the time! It's totally hilarious!

he NEVER should've been released. Animals like that should never be in civilized society.
