So the alleged LGBT (I'm questioning their use of that T) site Bilerico decided it wanted to "encourage dialogue" about transgender issues. "How did they encourage said dialogue" you ask? By having a cis gay man post an article telling trans folk that they are deluded, the idea of transgender individuals existing is "silly" and that SRS is Read more... )

I think I love you a little... thanks for posting this. For the record, stuff like this makes me want to see what the author's intestines look like.

...Are they trying to outdo the Advocate? Or maybe not, since they're doing a reasonable job of groveling/covering their asses after the fact. I'm not sure if there's been any other transphobic incidents with them, though, as I don't read news sites of any kind unless linked by comms or friends.

From what I can tell from others' comments, they fail at discussing trans issues regularly so...yeah.

Not surprised. :| A few gay and lesbian magazines in my area aren't so great about trans stuff either, and it caused me to distance myself from the whole "scene" because even the trans groups had issues with non-binary-indentified people such as myself. It's really messed up when things become so polarized and divisive in the very groups that should be united against bigotry and discrimination of all kinds.

God, I just hate it when people who are supposedly "progressive" about the differences in people are, in fact, not very progressive at all and prove to be close-minded. Ugh.

O_o ...whaaaaaaaat?

Wow, what spectacular tolerance fail. "I can't grok transfolk so I'm going to dismiss them out of hand and insult them while I'm at it!"

Gaaaah! There's a gigantic difference between having a drag persona and feeling like you grew up in the wrong body! I'm still shedding my ignorance of trans issues and I can still see how this is wrong. Where's his compassion--or his brains, for that matter?
