holy god, they said she was representing her school when she refused to clap for the person that raped her so she's getting sued?

What the shit is this? What a disgusting world.

Horrific, though isn't this story pretty old, I recall folks helping raise money for her.

Again, not that it makes it any less fucked up and rage-worthy.

It's probably an update that the Supreme Court wouldn't hear it.

Sadly, that's not terribly surprising.

Didn't this (or at least, before this update) even somehow make it to sf_d when a mansplainer in another comm decided to vehemently insist that this wouldn't have been such a big deal if only she'd been more ~demure~ about her refusal to applaud him?

Not sure, but I would not be the least bit surprised. Ugh.

This is too bad. Victims of violence, but especially sexual violence, are too often blamed and pay higher costs for being the victim than the perpetrator of the violence. I don't even know how to fix it, either.

I remember hearing about this story a bit back and I couldn't even process it. D: That poor girl and what a disgusting system.

If anything else, I REALLY hope this makes people think twice about going to this school.

It's more likely to make girls think twice about reporting a rape or otherwise standing up for themselves.

As a rape and abuse survivor, I'm going to kindly ask you to shut your mouth and think before you speak the obvious again.
