Dance Moms rageapalooza

Dance Moms and its apparently horrible teacher was mentioned in my thread about Toddlers In Tiaras. I decided to take a look at what that person meant. As a dancer who dances for the love of the sport, I am APPALLED. And also want to go hug my amazing dance tutors (who double as my soulbonds) and thank them for not being like this asshole.

Her voice alone is so grating it physically hurts to listen to.

Maybe it's my sensory sensitivity but I would HATE to have to a conversation with this woman because of her voice alone.

I think she'd be a better teacher if she wasn't so damn mean...and full of herself. The kids are great dancers but could be so much better with a GOOD teacher..

a friend and I watched a couple episodes once and at first I was like, yeah, reminds me of a few horse show moms I've known over the years. And I have had a few trainers that have made me cry (and I loved them all) but then it really clicked to me how YOUNG these girls are. At that age in the horse show world, these kids would just be getting into walk/trot and usually the parents that are so gungho on their kid being the best of the best are willing to shell out the 100K-1M for a great walk trot horse. And then when the kid doesn't win, they just blame the trainer or buy a new horse :\

I understand pushing for greatness...but these are just babies :(

Holy shit.

When I was a dancer and I cried because a dance partner yelled at me for making a mistake in a competition, my teacher came over and hugged me and told me not to listen to him. Sure, dance teachers are kinda strict in that they have to keep pointing out mistakes and correcting and sometimes that means shouting over the music to be heard, but there's a HUGE difference in that and what this woman is doing.

Kids should only cry when their arm is broken or someone dies? Is she for real?

Kids should cry when a big adult bully is picking on them too. :\

EXACTLY.

I bet she cried more than just over broken bones when she was their age.

The first video...eh. That's how my dance teachers were. You came in dressed correctly or you sat out until you fixed it. If she was told four times to put her hair up, I wonder why she just didn't go DO it.

Also, gymnastics in socks is just asking for trouble.

But overall, yeah, this woman really is horrible. The worst was when she made the kids do a VERY age-inappropriate dance in age-inappropriate costumes....in a competition in/close to Amish country.

Making her sit out is fine. Completely going OFF on a 10-year-old girl like that over a hair mistake, not so much.

I thought it was because she was told four times to go put it up and she never did? But the part where she was in the room putting her hair up was pretty messed up. Just let the kid be--she didn't need to follow her back in there.

Sitting out is not twenty five push ups and yelling at a child until she cries, then yelling at her for crying. Yeah, you didn't get to keep your hair down at my dance school either, but that kind of reaction is unacceptable.
