SHIT SHIT SHIT I LOST HALF MY PAPER

I emailed it to myself (4 pages out of 6) and instead of saving it when I opened it from my email, I clicked open, worked on it for two hours this morning, and every time I clicked save it apparently wasn't actually saving to anywhere, because it was read only. So now I have to rewrite the last two pages. Does anyone know if there is a way to ( Read more... )

Of course it will depend on what application you were using.

Start googling and maybe you'll catch a break.

On the bright side, in my experience, once you've already written a paper, writing it again should come easy.

oh no! i did the same thing about a month ago, except i discovered it too late and i lost the entire paper :(

if you're on the same computer, check your recent files/temporary files. if not there, maybe your temporary internet files...on a pc, tools --> internet options --> settings (under browsing history) --> view files. good luck!

Yes, it should have actually been saving it to somewhere. It's probably in some internet temporary folder and is called something like tmp324213.doc or whatever. Search .doc files modified in the last day.

open another attachment from mail and "save as" to view the default save location. if it doesn't display the full path, do an advanced search and make sure you search hidden folders

I guess I forgot to mention that it was due at 1:00 (3 hours after I lost the last 2 pages). So it was basically find it within 20 minutes or rewrite it. I did look through temporary folders and I couldn't find it though...
