So sorry to hear about your losses, but congrats on the newcomers. Also sad to hear about Warlock's legs! At least he's still a trooper.

I lost one of my boys back in...May-ish in the same way your lost Bertie. He was healthy and happy and playing the evening before and the next day, he was dead on one of his ledges. I still can't figure how it happened, his brothers were just as healthy and none of them show any signs of illness. He was a little over a year, too.

But I totally understand what you mean about not focusing on the bad. My SO and I have been taking in unwanted/rehomed rats for a few years now and it's always better to remember you've given them a happy, comfortable life than dwell on them passing.

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear about all the losses, especially Bertie, that must have been awful to find such a young healthy boy gone.

All of your new guys are so cute, and you do such a great thing with your rescue. If I could have as many rats as you do I would but I think I might be overrun. The number I'm at right now is enough as is.

I know this "shuffle" you speak of for rats with hind leg issues. My Teddy has it now, since he's got to be.. wow, at least 2 1/2 years old. His legs still work somewhat but obviously not as well as they use to. He manages just fine though and like Warlock doesn't even seem to notice.
