Not everyone likes Tom Waits. You could, actually, call him an acquired taste... his music's off beat, sometimes made with things that don't really qualify as instruments, never mind the ground in gravel quality of his singing voice, but me? I love Tom Waits... in all of his strangeness

He's pretty awesome though - and a pretty good actor too ;)
although the only films I can think of that he's in are Mystery Men and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (which I -have- to see! it never made it to my town)

He is actually the reason that I almost didn't like Dr. Parnassus. *smiles* Then I realized that I almost didn't like it because he was portraying his character _that_ well. I mean... damn. That character was easy to hate.

He's a great example of someone who's artist all the way through. He writes (lyrics), he makes music, he makes instruments, he sings, he acts. He's just... cool. *smiles*
