February is over as of tonight. Two months down, ten more to go... and I'll be damned of getting into the swing of things foodwise hasn't been the most difficult of tasks this time. Never minding the gym, which has also proved problematic.
March, I think, having discussed it with

Then again not going to restaurants you can claim two bennies: health and finances. When one doesn't motivate enough, switch to other and use that to bolster the troops morale! Many a time we've said "screw the healthy nutrition, we want X" and then used the cost difference between eating at home versus eating out to keep us home...and other times been like "screw it, we can afford X" but then use the calorie count or nutrition concerns.
Wii helps, she is a harsh mistress when you measure daily! =)

Though some may disagree, I am more orderly than the average bear. Or Raen, in this instance. *grins*
Once we're set again, I'm sure we'll back off of being so very specific about it. Right now, though, it feels like a good option.

We tried the meal planning and preprep and it didn't work for us, so we shifted to twice weekly grocery shopping and rotating through a selection of about 5-7 meal "types" that we know are good for us and cheap to prepare. Home made fajita's for example became a staple we have several times a week that is pretty easy to shop for. The frequent grocery shopping lets us only buy what we need when we need it in terms of fresh stuff. We've also found having a freezer packed with Lean Cuisine Healthy Choice (or take your pick of ~300-320 calorie meals for between $1.88-$3.00/meal) is very useful for those times where you just don't want to cook/want to think - you grab a box, nuke it, and are good to go. More expensive than fixing groceries, but still far cheaper than going out to eat.
Good luck!
