Yup, it fucking sucks all right!!! Don't know if it helps in the least to say I can relate from my own very recent experience of absolute suckiness. Oh, it's all well and good to talk about "The Abyss" of the Hero's Journey, and the healing power of Innanna's Descent... yada yada, but when it's *actually happening* it is Hard and it Hurts beyond description and archetypal mythologizing.....
I assure you, even if you can't fathom it right now, this IS temporary.
I'm glad you're still writing. I don't know if you're isolating during this difficult period, but please, please call me or email me if you want some extra support.
I hold for you your power, your strength, your courage, your skill, your integrity... I will hold these qualities of yours until you can hold them yourself again.
Patterns that are so familiar to me... And yeah, planning ahead about what you are capable of is the only way through that I've seen. Hang in there, and don't be afraid to see doctor after doctor if the situation lasts too long.
Get a thyroid check if you haven't already. And have a friend/spouse listen while you sleep to see if you're snoring, snorting, or otherwise having breathing trouble or pain that could interfere with deep sleep.
And yeah... "it sucks" is such an understatement. There are no words for how hard life gets without the energy to keep up.
If you start to have forgetfulness, low attention span, irritability, mental confusion, and intolerance to exercise (very weak), those are signs of chronic sleep deprivation, and they're serious. They also make diagnosis and treatment more obvious / easier.
I hope that whatever's got ahold of you will be treatable and solvable in a short time. If it's stubborn and difficult, remember you have friends who will support and help if you ask.
