"Treason" is probably a bit far.

Perhaps we shouldn't focus on the liars, but rather those who believe them. And who among us has time to fact-check everything we hear?

Yet as citizens don't we have a responsibility to be critical of what we hear?

Thanks for helping us to do that job in a small but significant way today.

The virus email hadn't reached me yet. More likely, my uncle sent it to me and I deleted it unread. I may use excerpts from your post to craft my own email to those Iowa Republicans who make up most of my extended family. Thanks for checking the facts.

Heck, you can just sit them down and show them this page.

There are plenty of fine, fine reasons to hold political views in opposition to the current administration. But outright lies about what Obama and his predecessors did or didn't do aren't among them. Instead, you might press your extended family for better reasons. And if they convince you they're right, then it will be for a better reason.

That's what political debate is supposed to be, no?

I don't debate politics with them for the most part. Once or twice a year, I might have the energy to take one of their viral messages and rebut it point by point. But I doubt they understand my responses if they even bother to read them.
