Oh, this was just marvelous! Nice and long, wonderful h/c... early in their relationship and tentative but so good and showing how they're starting to feel about each other and to trust. Loved the flashback -- poor John! -- and the complexity. I really liked the psychology and the things you have Reese say about what being a soldier and operative did to him. Very, very good. I'm going to rec this on the POI discussion forum so others who don't read lj can find it.

Thanks so much! I'm glad John's state of mind rang true. That was one of the harder parts of this story to write. I also see Stanton as someone with a rather abusive personality, or at the very least someone who will get what she wants at the expense of anyone that's in her way. The flashbacks in this episode kind of stuck with me, so I wanted to explore that idea further.

As always, your stories keep me on the edge with all the "feels", and this was no exception. Great research done on what cyanide poisoning does to someone, and Harold's brave albeit hesitant and shaking attempt to save Reese was great. I loved the Foe episode, but always felt the writers glossed over the ending and left us hanging as to how Reese felt after Kohl's torture. You filled in the mystery as only you do. Thank you

What can I say? I'm a sucker for moments when Reese & Finch actually admit to caring about each other, and the show does tend to leave us high and dry on actually *showing* us those times, so at least I get to write them. :)

As for the cyanide stuff, I was hoping I hadn't taken too much creative license as I never did manage to confirm or deny with my research whether it could actually take a person a couple of hours to succumb to the poison. I figured as every person is different, though, there was at least a chance. *shrug*

I was so delighted to see a new story of yours!

I've always thought that Reese was back to normal too soon after having needles with who knows what on them stuck through his nerves.

Awesome story with just the right amount of hurt!Reese and caring!Finch. Your characterization is spot on!
