I do not participate in discussion enough, I'm a lurker. In addition, like most communities on LJ (and elsewhere) it's very US-Centirc and Euro-Centric at times.

The whole self-hate thing can be found in every ethnic group, it's usually an internal speech pattern I find.

Thanks, I keep trying to get more into discussion here, but I feel kind of removed, because those particular issues are more theory that I can use in my interactions and not so much issues that are pertinent where I am.

So, widening the circle I suppose :)

Thank you for posting this. I spend a great deal of time trying to explain the racial aspect of the occupation to americans who are convinced that the whole thing is about God. Even some of my other Jewish family members don't understand that (they are all the ones who never lived in Israel and never served in the IDF.)

Yeah, people tend to forget the conflict is actually political and not, in fact, about god and what he/she/ze may or may not want.
