Cheapest Plane Tickets?

What's the best place to get plane tickets?

I'll be going to San Diego at the end of July this year though I only need a plane ticket to LA.

Go to STA or even studentflights. You don't need to be a student and they do REALLY cheap deals.

Or you can get even cheaper rates through the YHA.

STA, Flight Centre and Student Flights are all good places to check.

If you decide to go with either Flight Centre or Student Flights then be aware of a little rort, StudentFlights is owned by FlightCentre and they offer basically the same prices EXCEPT that they will match prices offered by competitors with a discount (or they used to) and they regard the other as a competitor and will match and undercut those prices (the indivudal stores want your money so they don't care about the corporate loss involved)...I saved about $100 by doing that a few years ago.

I go to the airport, and wait for someone to buy a ticket to my destination then I beat them up and take their ticket!!!

And then I run behind the counters at the crappy restaurants and lick the sandwiches!!

And then I go to small children in the waiting areas and describe the plot of the movie 'ALIVE' to them!!

...

(hey - I think my pain meds just kicked in....)

(umm, sorry.)

buy a cheapie virgin to Hawaii... cos like, that's way cheap right now.
Then jump on a domestic service into CA. Connections might be a bitch, but getting stuck in Hawaii is gotta be alot better than most everywhere else!

Yeah but there's virgin blue, virgin pacific...

Blue seems to be Au/NZ only and Pacific onl lets me choose Hong Kong and London.

iirc, Jetstar are starting flights to Hawaii (will be up in July, I just checked).

Their cheapest flight is $404 (mid-week), but I don't think I'd like to be cramped up on a long flight. Everything I've heard about them is negative.

Which comes to $608 with taxes and you still need the second leg and that's only one way. I doubt it would be cheaper than the long haul flight which would be in the region of $1500 return (possibly before taxes). On the plus side, R is little, she shouldn't be too cramped on any flight.

OTOH, it may be too early to be able to book a flight and take advantage of the inevitible specials.

Wouldn't surprise me if Jetstar was too cramped for our little friend :)
