I can see this. Entirely plausible. "He'll grow up into the kind of creature that clings to his mother's skirts because no other woman will have him." Ouch.

And, double ouch, he gets what he prays for. I wonder if he feels the same emptiness Angel/Liam did when he slew his own father, knowing that while Dad won't ever revile him again, he also won't ever be able to approve of him, either.

Thanks! I always felt his father must have died when he was quite young, because he and his mother had such a close relationship that seemed to exclude other people. But yes, I think he will miss having a father in his life... You'll just have to wait and see! :)

Somehow I missed this when it was originally posted - my loss then, my definite enjoyment tonight. This is both perfect in tone and utterly brilliant in execution, because it fits so rightly with the Spike (and William) we see.

Thank you for this. I'm looking forward to further installments, though I won't urge you to finish anytime soon, as that would be cruel. *laughs*
