OMG guys read "Fire". email me at ewein2412 [AT] yahoo [dot] co [dot] uk and I will send you a copy (it's hard to find the printed version). It's in the public domain (published in Writers of the Future Vol. 9 in 1993) so I don't think it's a TRUE spoiler to assure you that LLEU DOES NOT DIE (and neither does Medraut, who turns up in the second book, if you guys would only HAVE FAITH in me! If I ever kill a truly wonderful main character I will do it ON STAGE).
and BTW thank you Rachel for a great review! (blows kisses)
Addendum: How can Fire be in the public domain, if you're still alive? Doesn't that simply mean the rights to the story have reverted to you?
You could publish it electronically ^^, like sartorias is doing for some of her books - and if you don't want to sell it, you could still publish it for free on smashwords and link to it on your site... Ilona Andrews has been doing that with some freebies.
Another author told me that becoming a smashwords author is free and if you can format your manuscript to their specification you can run it through their digital-format converter and simply just save it and offer it from your own site and not at smashwords at all (or use Sigil free epub editor or Calibre).
"Fire" is lovely. I must be the only Wein fan around who knew Lleu was alive before they knew Medraut was. (It's clear by the end of Fire, but not at the beginning.)
