Book newly purchased

The Borders at the Promenade had a 40% going out of business sale. People were rushing about with armfuls of books in a manner which made one think of predatory or carrion-eating life forms, like vultures and sharks.

Ugh, that one's going under too? *wails in despair for husband's job which slides closer to oblivion every day* And they just fired the rainmaker CEO they hired last year too. Sigh.

I love 'High School Debut', and 'Fullmetal Alchemist' is one of my very favourite series. Hope you like them!

I really enjoyed "The Caliph's House"--I read it just before my first trip to Morocco.

It also made me want to read more of his writing...

A little OT, but have you read Salman Rushdie's ENCHANTRESS OF FLORENCE? It's about the Mughal dynasty, I think (at least the first few chapters), in a really weird dreamy, magic-realist style.

I haven't read any Rushdie. (I know, so embarrassing.) That sounds good though. I keep meaning to read Midnight's Children.

This is my first Rushdie, for a monthly book club I run at school. I want to read MIDNIGHT'S CHILDREN too; yay SF!
