I feel the EXACT SAME WAY about Martha Wells! Everything I should like, by all rights, and nothing I can put my finger on exactly, but I find myself pushing to read rather than being actually engrossed. Murderbot is the only thing I've ever actually finished, probably because it's short. (I did love Murderbot itself! but yeah something about the novella overall)
