I really want to make some sort of post about my thoughts on the political race, but I just am too overwhelmed to get all my ducks in a row to make it as fair and balanced as possible, and I really do like to be fair and balanced.  Because I like to think that individuals who run for the office of the presidency are doing so because they feel like ( Read more... )

I agree. It's been proven time and time again that abstinence-only education does not work. I went to public school and we started health class in third grade. We didn't really get into the sex-ed part until about sixth grade. It was always awkward, especially in high school, but I definitely think it's one of the most important parts of a child's education. But whether it's taught in schools or not, it's definitely up to parents to talk to their kids about sex.

I definitely do not deserve any applause! I just think that sometimes people get too wrapped up in party ties to look at logical solutions. I need a politician who is open minded and will look at a situation without blue or red glasses on :-D

"I need a politician who is open minded and will look at a situation without blue or red glasses on"

We were talking about that very thing at work today. Good luck finding one!

I know - I don't get why that is such a maverick idea...

I agree about parents responsibility.

All you really can do is teach them everything that is right and it is up to the kids to make the right choices. I just wish I could watch over my children 24/7 but that is impossible. I spent a lot of time teaching them things and I hope and pray that when faced with that type of situation that will make a decision that is inline with the morals and judgement that they were taught.

It is very unfortunate that they do not get the luxury of dealing with this difficult situation in a more private manner. I am sure it will all work itself out in the end.

On congrats on your child. I will say a prayer for you and your growing family!

Thanks. And of course, we'll do the best we can to teach her what right and wrong are and hope she chooses the right, but...I didn't always choose right, so I don't expect her to always make the best choices. I just hope that she doesn't have to face some huge consequences.

I will say, though, that I'm not sure that it's a good idea for those kids to get married. I mean, I see that going straight for divorce court in 2-3 years, but I could totally be wrong. He just seems like he's being forced, and that is never the best reason to get married...and when stuff like that happens, I don't understand how we are upholding the "holy bonds" of matrimony.

But that's a different post altogether...

I don't see that relationship lasting either. I think they're both beng forced into it and I see Bristol having a "What was I thinking?" moment in the near future.

Even I had second thoughts about getting married so soon and Forrest proposed before we knew I was pregnant.

Well, thanks. I know a lot of people don't, and that's ok - but I just...well, we just need to be focused on personal responsibility. And I don't think anyone can disagree with that. Except the people who don't want to be responsible. LOL

It's so funny that America was seen as this maverick, middle finger to the law kind of punk kid country when it started, and we're far more puritanical than well, just about all of Europe and a lot of other places on this big earth.

I don't get it. I mean, it's part of the human experience.

And I had no idea that girls had THREE holes until a friend of mine told me in like, 4th grade. Girls definitely need to know that they HAVE a vagina before 4th grade, even if you aren't explaining to them exactly what it's for...Also, I have found most people grew up thinking that men peed in a girl to make a baby.

Ha.
