Dear Hollywood: Screw whitewashed cyberpunks with inexplicably Japanese names in "New Manhattan"--this is the kind of big-screen adaptation American anime fans would like to see, thank you very much.

More details on the production here.

(Thanks to dungeonwriter for the heads-up.)

Hollywood: "Okay, okay, the lead can be Asian, but he's far too androgynous. Can we change that?" :-p

IDK dude, if he gets any manlier, his rippling masculinity might be a risk to the weak women folk.

Words cannot convey the level of FANGIRL GLEE this trailer provoked in me. Rurouni Kenshin is one of my all-time favorite stories of any media ever, and I am beside myself with joy that it's getting a respectable live-action treatment!

I have a love/hate relationship with RK, myself. I love historical adventures, realistic and otherwise, but what I watched of the series just felt too blatantly like a great big Gary Stu fest.

So that's the background I'm coming from when I say holy crap that trailer, do want, don't care if ridiculous.

Same and SAME. Maybe if it's just a movie and not stretched out to a full series, the Gary Stu will be dialed down a bit.

...Dare I hope for a live-action Saint Seiya of equal caliber?
