Hello, friends~

I don't usually share things like news and interviews around, but I thought this was something worth commenting about here on racebending since Harry touches on being an Asian American male getting jobs in showbiz.

If some of you don't really know, Harry Shum Jr is a Costa Rican born Chinese who grew up in America, and is an awesome ( Read more... )

Good for him! What he says about not being limited by other people's assumptions is good advice for everyone. From this interview he sounds like a smart, sensible guy who knows what he wants out of life and isn't full of himself. With any luck, he should have a good career and maybe break down a few barriers along the way.

Yay, Harry Shum! I'm looking forward to his storylines on Glee (I heard they were supposed to improve this year...)

There was an episode where the Stereotypical Sassy Fat Black girl was having ~body image issues~ (even though the show firmly established she had plenty of self-confidence, but w/e) and her self-worth was brought back by the pretty white thin girl who's pregnant, because she can ~sympathize~ or something.

Also in another episode, the pregnant girl laments to the black girl about how hard it is to be pregnant and judged, and it's ~totally like being a minority~. =\

sooo dreamy

My brother was cast as a musician in the pilot episode on Glee. Apparently they wanted to do something with Asians and they were looking for an Asian pianist? Anyhow, he got a picture with shirtless Shum. I am jealous.

His character's a football player? 0.0 I couldn't tell because I don't even think he ever got a speaking line in any of the episodes I saw.

But LXD OMG. I LOVE HIS EPISODE. <33333

He first appears in episode 4 when Puck decides to join the Glee Club and brought Matt and Mike, who are also on the football team, with him. Mike sometimes wears his football jacket in other episodes too.
