Oh Chica, you said it all. There aren't any new shows that I can get behind. I've tried to watch the new ones, but they just don't do it for me. Not even Supernatural.
the powers that be killed the franchise and the series for their own glory and desire for recognition from the industry. they also had a falling out with the star of their own show and then ultimately with the fans. they should be given an award for the most stupidest, bone-headed move known to mankind, right next to the premature cancellation of Star Trek.
*Dom throws a Sicilian curse on their business* They so deserve to fail at everything they do and I hope they have to sell their ownership of the franchise, so someone else can do something AWESOME with it!
I so know I'll be staying in this fandom, as I usually stay in the fandoms I like. I'm still lurking around due South and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues fandoms!
You know what I realized yesterday? Besides the fact that Stargate is over (I'm hoarding the last three SGU eps), I realized that I've known my oldest fandom friends for about 10 years now, and that we're still in contact. The tiny fandom in which we've met has pretty much dissolved, but we've kept in contact and we can still squee together, and in spite of the distance, we've also met in RL. So, even though Stargate is dead, and this is so very very sad, I'm sure the fandom will endure (look at the Farscape fandom, 7 or so years after the show was cancelled) and I'm sure we'll still be able to squee together over other stuff as well, and hopefully over new stargate things in the next couple of years.
For me, Atlantis was THE show. Then I discovered fanfiction and found, as you said, a lot of wonderful people. As a reader not a writer, I am so pleased that writers still write stories based on these characters and for sure, these stories keep the characters alive for me......I keep my fingers crossed permanently that the writers will never tire of writing about my favourite characters of all time.
