I've been reading a lot of Hellboy lately. And by a lot I mean, I bought the first volume a week or so ago, and suddenly find myself on volume 6 already! It's fantastic stuff. It's my favorite kind of horror: occult, ancient legends, and Nazis. All of this though has me bitten with the mythology bug. I really want to start reading about the old ( Read more... )

Oh, I love that stuff too. Must search bookshelf and get back to you. (It might be better, though, to go to a library catalog rather than amazon - more serious stuff.) We read some of this for my Arthurian legends class - the Cattle Raid of Cooley is always a good place to start.

Have you read The Mabinogian? There's a major cycle of norse stuff, which also influenced Tolkien. Damn, why can't I remember the name?

I really ought to read Hellboy - I was friends in high school with one of the guys who created it.
