Well, technically whether you win or lose, a war always lead to recession. For both sides. Unless you're the current royalty of the winning side (exiles don't count) or have a permanent settling (running away from home might not be the greatest idea, no matter who your parents are), you're gonna end up broke. And possibly, dead.
