I'm pretty sure my heart is broken.

Yup, definitely broken.

This was the sweetest, most sentimental (in the good way) thing I've read in a long time.

I loved Neal's mom. At first I was thinking, it's not plausible that Neal would walk away from a mom this wonderful. But you made it completely plausible and you made her a complete pip.

Now, I need timestamps with Neal and his mom in NYC. Pretty please!

Trust me, I thought she was too cool to leave too, but Neal can be so stubborn sometimes...

So glad you liked it.

Great story. My heart just about stopped when I got the first inkling Neal was "sick". I'm so glad his mom was still alert enough to be there for him. I loved the scene in the hospital with him smiling as she produced the plastic pig and booped his nose with the pom pom. Sweet ending to a heart wrenching story. Nice job!

Lovely story, loved the way u seemlesly u alternate between the past and present. I am glad Neal had a loving mother, Neal learning slight of hand from her was so cute. Loved the scene after the surgery ♥♥♥

In a lot of ways, Neal owes a lot more to his mother for the man he became than Vincent Adler

Oh, such a lovely story you have here. I especially like that Neal learned his slight of hand from his mom and that she could still make him smile with it. I do hope the show goes down the reconciliation route for them too. Thanks

Thanks! I wanted to show that he got more from her than he realized.

Gorgeous story. What a different take on Neal's mom than we usually see--I'm glad for this view of her as a largely positive presence in Neal's early life. And I love that Neal's reunion with her, and her struggles, helps Neal end his fear and helped him decide whether or not to risk the operation. Well done!

Thanks! I'm happy that the connection between Neal's health issues and his mother's was clear - I was doubtful that I made it explicit enough.
