Wheeeee!!!!!! I got a tag on your journal. MADE MY DAY!

And I am very interested now in TMBG...will have to go find that song on iTunes tonight.

And you are, sadly, younger than I am.

Hee! I hope you like TMBG - they are a lot of fun. Their music is on the whimsical/silly side, always smart and occasionally brilliant. How many other recording artists would write a song about James Ensor (Belgian painter) or the characteristics of mammalian biology?

I then def must check them out.

You are familiar with Jonathan Coulton? He did a song on Benoit Mandelbrot (the mathematician). Less whimsical and far more edgy is Chumbawamba, who never should be judged on Tubthumping...but they have a similar sort of sensibility.

If the old adage that you are only as old as you feel applies, then I am about 17. This is perhaps an issue for a licensed therapist...

I am lucky in that, due to exceptional genetics, I look about 10 years younger. We'll see how that works into my dotage...

I think a combination of very fair skin, minimal sun exposure and genetics. My mother never looked her age either.

To be honest, I had no clue about the name. On the other hand, fellow child of the 80's, woohoo! (I was born the year after you) Interestingly, I'm often told I look too young to be a college professor (random things you find out you have in common with your lj friends ftw). Btw, I was born in NJ.

I know *of* TMBG, I know a few of their songs, and I know people who really like them. I guess my musical tastes at the time were a little more mainstream, although Robyn Hitchcock and Living Colour both played at my college and I got into both of those bands for various periods of time. Interestingly (hi to Elr if she sees this), it was a college friend who turned me on to Oysterband.

Anyway, I didn't have much of substance to add to the Name Meme, I just found the conversation interesting.

Yay to looking young! It tickles me pink, though it really didn't until I passed 30. I was recently carded to buy alcohol, because the clerk said he had to do it for anyone who looked to be under 30. Yay, me. I used to wear my glasses to job interviews so I'd look older; I figured people would take me more seriously.

Yay NJ! I lived in the Princeton area for 15 years after college and I miss my home state.

I think I can guess at the origin of your screen name :/ How long have you had it? What do you teach? How can we fit it into a WC story? o_O

:-)

I was born in New Brunswick (at St. Peters, which is apparently "the baby hospital"), but we moved to PA when I was 3 or 4. I actually also lived in the Princeton area, for 5 or 6 years after I finished graduate school. Huh.

My screen name...yeah, you have the clues now.... I discovered "fandom" when I was a PhD student (the fandom was Highlander, btw), and about 6 years ago I had a temporary position teaching at a small college and finally decided I should have separate "work" and "personal" email, etc. The "doctor" is for my doctorate, and the "fangeek" is for, well, being a fangeek. :-)

I teach biology (molecular biology, genetics, and a few other things), so I'm not sure how we can fit that in. More power to you if you come up with something!

Yay New Brunswick (I went to Rutgers). Molecular biology...hmmm, not easy to fit into a fic at this end, unfortunately. I left that stuff behind when I changed my major from animal science to business 157 years ago (boring story). Maybe Moz is really a researcher, and pulls cons on the side for fun.
