The whole scene in the hospital, when Monroe is trying to coax Nick out of his catatonic state, is an incredible piece of writing - powerful, poignant, and painful in that 'rips the emotions raw' sort of way. The dialog Monroe says, the way he quietly pleads, is just so... (time for another tissue).

Don't worry about fudging the exorcism. I'm doing worse for the magic in my epic (it has witches, one of which wreaks havoc). Most of the time, I'm making it up while basing myself on Magic in the Middle Ages, which suggests that people back then were also fudging traditions a lot of the time. So I think we're safe.
