The On Spec R was from a few days ago, the others today.

The near miss would be more promising if I had anything else I could send there. Sadly I don't, bar possibly a short-short, but it's not well matched to that market. Frustrating.

Have you looked through the what's new on duotropes lately? Only every once in a great while will there be one or two congratulations. Most are rejections. Yep, downright depressing it is!

Yes, On Spec can sometimes be quite slow to respond. I think my longest wait there was 9 months. That said, the comments for this story were quite useful. It has gone on a diet as a consequence.
