Close?

I am not sure how this works, and I'm not sure if it kinda scares me - but I think it's cool!

I'm... 12.5 miles away according to MapQuest.

That's pretty close - it may be going with bigger cities

I'm assuming it works by IP address because I am not in Studio City, CA but when I am home it correctly deduces my location.

6645 miles away though? I know that we're not exactly neighbors but we live in the same COUNTRY!

Yeah, well, it tells ME I am 6645 miles away from Edmond, too!

Silly all-knowing Big-Brother-esque internet.

Wow, that is so crazy! I can't believe it would even recognize "Waleska, GA," because I've never been there, but I've heard it's like Deliverance Country. I know there's a Christian college there where all the rich parents send their bad/gay children to try to "reform" them.

I MapQuested as well and it's 48 miles away. That's pretty good. I moved out of my awesomely ghetto apartment this morning; I wonder what it would have guessed for that doorway-to-hell place.

Have any of them died in bus crashes since?

Who is in Littleton? Because that is the city next to mine. I'm confused.

It may have marked you as being there instead of elsewhere - it seems to be "general vicinity" to place you.

Or else you have a stalker hacking your computer.

It could happen

The first comment/spot I had was from someone I DON'T KNOW in a town 30 minutes from here.

Oh wait...was that supposed to be referring to me? I don't get this game yet. If that is the case, it makes sense since I have a Littleton zip code. I just didn't understand the meme. I'm so tired and am just breezing through LJ to catch up.

Yeah, someone (in this case, me) creates an login account and posts the link

Then, everyone who clicks on the link and views the map gets a spot added to the map in their location.

How very scary stalkerishly accurate of it. *backs away from you*

Hey, I didn't make it! I don't even really understand it. Oh, and if you REALLY want to be freaked out by it - switch to the "satellite" view

Nope, turns out that satellite isn't scary for my region.

You couldn't see your house?

I could - well, once I entered my address in
