Heh. Yeah, I was reading a fanfic and it was going just fine until all of a sudden the paragraph goes "...He went home and sanded the futtock..." and I'm like "He did WHAT????" because this was a nice little gen humor piece and that certainly seemed to come out of left field.
(For the record, the character is building a boat in his basement in his spare time. It's a matter of canon. So it's not out of left field at all.
Although "sanding the futtock" just SOUNDS like a really, really dirty euphemism.)
I actually think I stumbled upon that word in the dictionary (might have been the Scrabble dictionary now that I think about it) a year or two ago. No joke.
