Reason # 6,483 Why My Family Is Awesome … (And *VERY* Unique!)

So the other day we were sitting down to lunch. Well, I was preparing a salad and some more sauce for the leftover enchiladas from last night’s dinner and my family was sitting at the table. The siblings were sketching and painting and my mom was quizzing them on Greek and Latin roots. (‘Acer-, Acid, or Acri-‘, meaning ...? (‘bitter, sharp, sour’)

It was SO funny! And then later after lunch we moved on to discussing grammar. Momma was talking about “Do you know how to distinguish a phrase from a clause?” and I leaned over and whispered “Well, one of them has a beard, and a floppy red hat ...” Little brother laughed and repeated the joke when Momma asked what was funny and then someone said something about Santa’s belly (like a bowl full of jelly) and he made a rift on the joke, I forget exactly what now, but something to do with war (making a pun from the Latin root “belli-“ meaning war as in antebellum)

I have one smart baby brother.

Like scary smart.

He's only 12.

Aww, I'm astounded and amused all at the same time. Dinner conversations in my house were silent affairs because if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Oh, there's NEVER silence in our house! Dinner conversations tend to last for HOURS. And they run the gamut of topics, too. It's quite amusing.

About the fact that she can define Greek and Latin roots? Probably not.

About the fact that she's 6' tall, athletic (figure skater), with long, thick chessnut hair and big blue eyes? Yeah. Probably.

But she's still only 17 and her older brother owns multiple bladed weapons and knows how to use them (fencing champion)
