I bet you'd pick it back really fast (and be surprised how much you still know/remember) if you were exposed to it again.
(Maybe get some Russian language movies/songs/books-on-tape?)
My main problem with German, the foreign language I know best, is that my EARS are very very good. My tounge? Das ist nicht so gut. =(
I understand far far more than I could ever think of the vocabulary (much less the GRAMMAR!) to say.
It's my parents fault. My dad was fluent, and my mom conversant and they sprechen sie Deusch the way most parents use pig latin.
Hence my skills HAD to get good for eavesdropping purposes!
When I took German in collage, I could understand EVERYTHING the teacher said (contextually at least, if not every word) - even when she was speaking to another mostly-fluent individual. But I had to really think and work to do it myself.
That's something I AM going to get back to and study on my own. Just, right now I'm too busy.
