Sexy Zone who is having a fan concert on the 11th of February. To these guys who are deepening their bonds every day, we have asked them to talk about “Member-ai”, “love towards the fans” and of course, the inside stories for the concert. (Interview was done in the middle of January)
(TN: “ai” means love, so “member-ai” means members’ love.)
The 5 members are to frankly confess/talk about member-ai!
Nakajima Kento (NK): Today’s round-table discussion’s theme is “Love”!
Sato Shori (SS): Shall we make someone to take control (of the conversation)?
Kikuchi Fuma (KF): (Looks at Sato) You!
SS: No, Marius!
NK: Let’s choose someone other than Marius (lol). Why don’t you try it, Shori?
SS: Not me. I don’t even understand things such as “love”, I won’t be able to take control…
Marius Io (Marius): What I want to say is~.
KF: Eh, what is it, suddenly? Are you going to take control?
Marius: That’s not it. Talking about “love”, it reminds me of when Fuma-kun took a leave when we were recording for [The Shounen Club].
Matsushima Sou (MS): When we performed with the 4 of us, right.
Marius: Right. I thought that even if it wasn’t the 5 of us, we should work hard nevertheless; didn’t the 4 of us dig a hole and fill it up?
SS: Dug and filled it up?
KF: You meant that you worked hard to fill in the gap that was created by my absence, right? Saying “digging the hole” makes it ambiguous though. (lol)
MS: We even worked together to figure out the dance formation, right? (TN: I didn’t realize any changes in the formation somehow, though…?)
NK: What Mari wants to say is that by covering for each other like that is member-ai, isn’t it?

MS: For me~, every time we appear in music shows such as Music Station, I gradually start to feel the member-ai.
SS: In what way?
MS: As I thought, everyone frets because failure is not allowed right? I think it’s good that during those times, Kento-kun becomes the center and will talk about practicing (for the performance).
SS: Ah, I think it’s good too!
MS: It feels like our bond gets deepened.

KF: When you did a monomane for your self-introduction? (TN: “monomane” means imitation, something Fumikyun is very good in. xD)
MS: Yup. When I decided that I’ll do it, I became timid as I thought it will fail. But Fuma-kun kept on cheering me up, saying, “Do it, it’ll be fine.”
(TN: Here, the term used is “suberu (スベル)”. It means “to slip”. So basically, if someone tells a joke and it wasn’t funny, then in Jap that is called “suberu”. Think of Taguchi’s lame jokes. This can be used in monomane context as well.)
SS: Moreover, wasn’t it well accepted?
MS: Un! It was reassuring because everyone told me that they will follow-up (with my monomane).
SS: Before the MC, I was also told by Kento-kun that whatever happens, someone will definitely follow-up, that made me happy… That means, everyone is everyone’s follower!
(TN: Ok, here, they use the word “follow” in katakana, and in this context it would mean “follow-up” with the talk/monomane. But because of the katakana usage, it’s a bit hard to put it into the last sentence, but I just put it literally.)

MS: Kento-kun has always been touching that area, and recently he even goes to touch the area under the nose of a strapped monkey doll. (TN: I have no freaking idea what Sou means here, but apparently Kento loves that part?)

KF: No, it should be the vegetable thief part, right. (TN: In [Hungry!] drama, I think this was one of the very first lines Shori said, which was, “yasai doroubo” which means “vegetable thief”.)

NK & MS: (Does Shori’s monomane) “Otou-chan, yasai doroubo ga iru yo~”
(TN: The line means, “Daddy, there’s a vegetable thief here~”.)
SS: No, no, I can’t possibly be a vegetable thief.

Marius: Then next. For Fuma-kun, it is the part where he would come and tease me. (In response, Kikuchi stood up and goes to tickle attack Marius)

NK: A brother who plays with you ne. (TN: Here, Kento uses the word “tease” but in a thankful feeling. So I changed it to “play with”. It’s just one of the way the Jap language is.)
SS: Fuma-kun is what is commonly referred to as a tsundere. He would usually speak in harsh/strict words, but at the back, he’ll worry and ask things like, “Are you ok?” I think he hides his kindness because he gets embarrassed.
(TN: “tsundere” is a slang that is used to a person who has 2 extremes, sometimes being very harsh which is the ‘tsun’ part, and the next, will become very sweet which is the ‘dere’ part. If that didn’t help, don’t forget, Google’s your best friend. :D)
KF: There’s no such thing!

MS: Then the last is Kento-kun… When he gets naked, he gives off a very good smell!

KF: Also, when we announced our 1st concert, there were girls who cried. It made me really happy since I didn’t think they would be glad for us like that.

Your wishes for the 1st concert?
SS: When this issue is out, it’ll be just before the first concert! Right now we are doing meetings and the likes, but for me, I just cannot wait for it.
NK: We are also actively giving out our opinions and ideas.

SS: Although I want to say it in a cuteness like Mari did, I’d like to make a stage that shows our coolness, and one that would give smiles (to the audience).
