There sure are a lot of kids.

So how many other parents out there are missing their little bundles of joy? Misery loves company. [Okay so he's not miserable, but he does have a penchant for the dramatic.]

[a softened voice-]

I do... I miss him a lot already...

[and then a chuckle]

Though he's not a very little bundle anymore, I must admit, but I like to think something like that doesn't change in the heart of a mother.

Nah, I don't think it changes in the heart of any parent. Your baby's your baby.

Mn, yes... You have a child waiting for you? I'm sorry you've been separated from them; even now, I'm still a nervous wreck, just thinking about it.

You shouldn't worry so much. When you go back home you'll find everything just as you left it.

Oh, yes... but I can't help but wonder if I'll be as I was before I'd left...

Fair enough.

Still, even with all this talk about it being dangerous it'd be nice to have family. How old is your son, anyway?

I-I suppose I've forgotten.

[Oh dear, did she know his birth-date before she came to Luceti? Or was it here? Something once a year was a very difficult thing to recollect. But-even so... it was a precious thing...

She can't help but feel her heart sink a little.]

[Now that is very peculiar.]

You've forgotten?

Did something happen? Hit your head?

Well, not quite, no. It's a little strange, really... but I have something in my head that eats memories. So I tend to forget a lot of things.

[Okay scratch that- extremely peculiar.]

That's unfortunate. Do you ever remember them again?

I can relearn some things, like... what crabs are, or what my favorite food was. Things that can be repeated. Experiences, though, I'm afraid are entirely lost when they've been forgotten.

[Like everything prior to her son's birth, and then some.]

Hmm...

What if you keep a diary?

Oh, I've been working on that, actually! I've been trying to write down all of my day's experiences, including the people I meet. And I make sure to spend a few hours studying my own mind, in the night.
