For those that believe that racism doesn't exist anymore or that not discussing it will make it go away. Yes, I read that from someone very recently.

That is hilarious. In a scary way. I love that they're calling it "All-American", implying that unless you're white you're not a real American. Oh and don't you just love it when they say "this isn't racist, but whites are a minority now" - oh dear lord.

And the other day I heard a couple of mature-aged, well-educated men in the lunch room at work talking about how Muslims are going to take over the world. (I'm used to hearing that coming from the mouth's of white upper-class wealthy yuppies but not from "ordinary" middle-class people. It really surprised me.)

We're really sheltered from this sort of sentiment and speech in San Antonio. Most of America is pretty sections according to how racism works (this is, of course, just my opinion). In the north, the racists keep their mouths shut and pretend it doesn't exist with the type of language you see in the article, but there is a lot of pretense. In the southeast, the racism is out in the open and there is a lot of fear and unfriendliness, but it is real. In California, it is seen even if it doesn't exist and everything in all of the cultures seems to be blamed on racism, regardless of which races are involved or even if it is the same one. In the midwest, there really didn't seem to be different races for there to be an issue (at least when I lived there). In Texas, the racism seems to be mostly in east Texas being part of the south, but most of Texas is just take it as it comes
